wo senators unveiled a bipartisan plan Wednesday to raise federal gasoline and diesel taxes for the first time in more than two decades, pitching the proposal as a solution to Congress' struggle to pay for highway and transit programs. The plan offered by Sens. Chris Murphy and Bob Corker would raise the 18.4-cents-a-gallon federal gas tax and 24.4-cents-a- gallon diesel tax by 12 cents each over the next two years, and then index the taxes to keep pace with inflation.

Here's hoping New Girl threw Zooey Deschanel quite the baby shower! In tonight's epic season four finale, one of the Fox sitcom's main couples took a major step in their relationship: They got engaged! Warning, spoilers ahead! That's right, Schmidt (played by Max Greenfield ) finally made good on the promise he made to Cece when he first met her, asking, "Girl, will you marry me?" Creator Liz Meriwether tells E! News that the writers decided at the very beginning of the season that Cece and Schmidt would get engaged, but admits they weren't sure what to do with the additional episode Fox had originally ordered. Meriwether says, "I was so stressed out about the proposal because it just feels like this whole build-up to something. There's got to be, like, fireworks and a hot air balloon and a spaceship and whatever that was going to be. Enter Deschanel's pregnancy to the unexpected rescue! "Zooey's pregnancy was actually this great gift, because originally the end of the episode was Schmidt running out to find Cece, and then 23 was going to be him finding her and the proposal. But having him just open the door and that she's there, it actually made it feel a lot cleaner and simpler."
Ruuude. We had just gotten to the point in the season when we didn't want to say goodbye to anyone, let alone two couples, but alas that's what we had to do tonight as the competition whittled down to the Top 4. Unfortunately, lovebirds Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson were eliminated first. The Shark Tank mogul said he was honored to be on the show. Despite both saying "I love you" in behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage, Robert wouldn't cop to the romance when pressured by host Tom Bergeron. Chris Soules and Witney Carson were the second eliminated couple. The former Bachelor star held back tears during his interview with Tom and Erin Andrews and said his time on the show was "life changing." Chris said, "This has been an incredible experience. I'm just thankful to have been a part of...I'm forever grateful."
If you call yourself an X-Men fan, chances are you're already gearing up for the next installment hitting theatres in 2016. But in a twist we didn't see coming, director Bryan Singer had some news to share Tuesday about one of the franchise's films. While being interviewed through Periscope, Singer delivered an announcement we can't help but love. 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will introduce the Rogue Cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD on July 14. The best part? There will be 17 minutes of previously-cut footage. Yes, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult will appear! And yes, there is a subplot involving Anna Paquin's Rogue.
Beyoncé's show-stopping Givenchy look at the 2015 Met Gala may have had more inspirations than anyone realized. Beyoncé included. An eagle-eyed instagram showed off an uncanny resemblance between Beyonce's look and that worn by the amiable princess whom Eddie Murphy's Prince of Zamunda is originally supposed to marry in the 1988 hit Coming to America. Vanessa Bell Calloway, who wore the outfit in the movie and whose later film credits included Love Don't Cost a Thing and Cheaper by the Dozen, saw the comparison online and wrote, "What an honor to be photo framed next to my fav singer @Beyonce! That was 27 years ago for me & she's now! #METGALA2015."
