RadioShack's stock is trading below $1 per share for the first time in its history — and has the investment world wondering if it will eventually be delisted. Shares of RadioShack Corp. slid 10 cents, or 9.6 percent, to 93 cents in Friday afternoon trading. The New York Stock Exchange could delist the stock if it closes below $1 per share for 30 consecutive trading days. The stock is well below its all-time high of $79.50 set in December 1999.
Soccer teams kicked up their protest a notch this weekend against second-hand smoke coming onto their field from nearby Levi's Stadium. Players put on masks to show their opposition to smoke coming from people attending a concert at Levi's Stadium. Parents said they have complained to stadium officials for weeks about second-hand smoke. But the problem only goes away temporarily. "We turned around and within a couple of weeks, the same situation is now back up and running," Santa Clara resident Burt Field said. "And quite frankly, we're tired of it. We actually think our kids are valuable. We think our players deserve to have a situation to play in a healthy environment."
Two separate quakes at or near magnitude-4.0 hit Northern and Southern California on Sunday. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The U.S. Geological Survey says the second quake, measuring 3.6 in magnitude, struck Sunday afternoon less than 1 mile south of the San Francisco Bay Area suburb of Concord. Concord police dispatchers said there appeared to be no damage or injuries. The U.S.
The coast guard said, around 6,800 migrants were rescued from overcrowded boats crossing to Europe over the weekend, including a mother who gave birth to a baby girl on an Italian navy ship. According to an ongoing investigation by an Italian court, growing lawlessness and anarchy in Libya -- the last point on one of the main transit routes to Europe -- is giving free hand to people smugglers who make an average of 80,000 euros ($90,000) from each boatload. Mild spring weather and calm summer seas are expected to push total arrivals in Italy for 2015 to 200,000, an increase of 30,000 on last year, according to an Interior Ministry projection.
James Taylor is releasing his first album of all-new material in 13 years, “Before This World,” on June 16. But Red Sox fans got a preview of one of the tracks Sunday night at Fenway Park before the team faced off against the New York Yankees. It was an apt setting for the premiere of the video for “Angels of Fenway,” which is filled with iconic Sox moments, from Curt Schilling’s bloody sock to Carlton Fisk waving his famed home run fair. The tune tells the tale of several generations of Sox fans, and muses on the Curse of the Bambino, the Yankees rivalry, and the historic 2004 World Series win, which inspired the song.
Two social media accounts tweeted messages about last evening's terror attack outside the "Draw Muhammad contest" in Texas - apparently before it happened. According to the Los Angeles TImes, a Twitter account titled “Shariah is Light” posted an allusion to the attack just minutes before it happened. The account also tweeted a command to follow another account, titled “AbuHussainAlBritani,” which also tweeted before and after the shooting. “The knives have been sharpened, soon we will come to your streets with death and slaughter!” tweeted the “AbuHussainAlBritani” account before the foiled attack. Later, the account began tweeting praise of the shooting, and linked the attack to the militant group Islamic State. “Allahu Akbar!!!!! 2 of our brothers just opened fire at the ... art exhibition in texas!” the account tweeted, “Kill Those That Insult The Prophet.” Both accounts have since been suspended.
