The Israeli military bolstered forces along the volatile border with the Gaza Strip on Thursday in response to intensifying rocket fire as tensions remained high over the deaths of three Israeli teenagers and an Arab youth who Palestinians allege was killed in a revenge attack. Buses carrying Israeli forces could be seen heading to the Gaza border area, where soldiers milled about organizing their equipment. Military spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner said the troop movement was "defensive" but Israel remained prepared for any additional violence from the Palestinian territory. Israeli defense officials, speaking on condition of anonymity under military guidelines, said the deployment included tanks, artillery and ground forces. Israel's last major operation in Gaza, a territory controlled by the Hamas militant group, took place in late 2012.
Zimbabwe prosecutors Thursday are still trying to figure out how to charge one of the suspects in the killing of Cecil the lion by an American dentist that has outraged animal lovers. Walter James Palmer, who has kept a low profile in the face of protests at his clinic, is being sought for questioning by Zimbabwe authorities but according to the U.S. embassy in the capital Harare, there is no information about any extradition request. Farm owner Honest Ndlovu was named as an accomplice and appeared in court Wednesday, but unlike professional hunter Theo Bronkhorst, he was not charged.

It sounds like Robin Thicke's girlfriend April Geary Love is fitting in quite nicely with the "Blurred Lines" singer's family. Robin's dad Alan Thicke told E! Reporter Marc Malkin at the Vacation premiere in L.A., "She's lovely," He added, "It's a great time for him. [He has an] album coming out and April is there and supportive." 38-year-old, Robin, may be 18 years older than the leggy 20-year-old model, but that certainly doesn't seem to matter much. Alan's wife Tanya said,"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." It sure doesn't. Alan is 28 years older than Tanya, 40—and they've been married for 10 years!
A California senator who successfully fought to make vaccines a mandatory requirement for most school kids is now fighting to keep his job in the face of recall efforts from opponents of the new law. A petition to recall state senator Richard Pan, a pediatrician, over his support for compulsory shots was approved by the California secretary of state this week. Pan, a first-term senator, authored and championed SB 277, a bill recently signed into law that removes personal belief exemptions, including religious objections, for vaccinations of school kids. It makes it harder for parents to opt out of a list of 10 shots which will be required beginning in 2016 for all students in both public or private school who do not have a medical waiver.
At a Paris restaurant a few weeks ago, one of Marine Le Pen’s closest allies declared that a long-running feud between the National Front president and her father was officially over. “It’s done,” party Vice President Florian Philippot told a small group of journalists when asked about the likelihood of Jean-Marie Le Pen being excluded from the party. “Politically, he’s no longer a member of the FN, although the matter still needs to be settled legally.” As it turned out, the legal difficulty of pushing Jean-Marie out of the party was greater than Philippot, who has pushed hard for exclusion, might have expected. And what had been planned as a stress-free summer of preparations for fall campaigning for Marine Le Pen now finds her once more fighting to cleanse the party of her father’s influence. On Tuesday, a court in Versailles threw out here latest attempt to silence her father, ruling that a mail-in vote by party members to determine whether he stayed or left was illegal.
