A decade ago the picturesque Cornish village of Boscastle was almost destroyed by a devastating flash flood which swept through the valley. Gradually, with the help of donations and volunteers from around the world, the villagers were able to rebuild their homes, businesses and lives. An unusual video has emerged from China of a villager's house sinking into groundwater. In the footage, filmed in a village in Southeast China late last month, the structure of the building can be seen sinking while furniture floats. According to local reports, a possible cause of the subsidence is the over-pumping of groundwater. The residents, a grandmother and her two grandchildren, escaped without injury after moving rooms before it fully collapsed.
A dramatic video has emerged from northwest China of a massive sandstorm. In the footage, filmed in Golmud, Qinghai Province on Tuesday 31st March, the sandstorm moves from west to east driven by powerful winds. According to news reports, the sandstorm lasted for about thirty minutes, reducing visibility to only thirty metres.
