Bulletproof Stockings is a Hasidic all-female alt-rock band led by Dalia Shusterman and Perl Wolfe. Their name references the opaque hosiery some Hasidic women wear. By their religious law, men can't listen to women singing who are not part of their immediate family. "So they can't listen to it, but we can sing," says drummer Dalia Shusterman. Singer and keyboardist Perl Wolfe says that after her divorce she meditated and "worked out my issues with God... it, like, came to me that this is definitely meant to be for women only."
