The Islamist militant group al-Shabaab was the target of a U.S. airstrike in southern Somalia on Monday. Al-Shabaab is affiliated with al Qaeda, and has menaced the country for years. The Pentagon is still accessing the situation, but Somali officials claim that al-Shabaab's leader was killed.
