'Twin Peaks' Season 3 Premiere Recap: Confusingly Awesome

It has been 27 years since Twin Peaks debuted, which meant creators Mark Frost and David Lynch has had a lot of time to thinks about how to make season 3 the weirdest season yet. The first two episodes of the revival aired on Showtime Sunday night, with episode 3 and 4 available online. For fans of Lynch's unique style of storytelling, the new season did not disappoint. The plot takes place 25 years after season 2 finished. We learned that Agent Dale Cooper's soul is trapped in the Black Lodge while his evil doppelganger has been running amuck in the real world. The doppelganger is due back in the Black Lodge but he has something villainous up his sleeve to keep that from happening. While we are not sure why, we do know that the evil doppelganger is specifically targeting and killing certain people. In one case it appears that he had the Twin Peak's high school principal arrested for murder -- which he committed...probably. It is still too early to really get a grip on where all of the plot lines will lead, but for the time being it is nice to enjoy the backwards dialogue, harsh music score, and all around weirdness that is Twin Peaks.
