Supermarket chain Supervalu said it's investigating a data breach that may have resulted in the theft of customer information. The company said it experienced a criminal intrusion into the portion of its computer network that processes payment card transactions for some of its retail food and liquor stores. Supervalu said this may have resulted in the theft of account numbers and in some cases also the expiration date, other numerical information and/or the cardholder's name. It has not yet determined that any cardholder data was stolen. Supervalu said it has notified authorities and is cooperating in their investigation. TheStreet's Brittany Umar has details from New York.
