The death toll in Syria’s three-year conflict has nearly doubled in a year, rising to 191,369 people killed between March 2011 and the end of April 2014, a United Nations Human Rights report has said. The figure is the first to be issued by the UN’s human rights office since July 2013, when it documented more than 100,000 killed.Navi Pillay, the UN high commissioner for human rights, criticised what she described as the world’s “paralysis” over the fighting in Syria, which “has dropped off the international radar” in the face of so many other armed conflicts. This video features comments on the death toll. Credit: YouTube\UNHumanRights
