Families who fled their homes in Sinjar, Iraq, amid fierce fighting sought refuge in the cities of Dohuk and Khanik. The International Committee for the Red Cross was distributing humanitarian aid in the two cities after many families spent days without food and water on Mount Sinjar. Schools, cultural centres and unfinished buildings were being used to shelter them. Video released by the Red Cross on August 18 shows interviews with refugees.
