O piloto alemão Michael Schumacher, da Mercedes, anunciou nesta quinta-feira a aposentadoria definitiva da Fórmula 1 ao fim da temporada de 2012. O argumento dado por ele para deixar as pistas é a falta de motivação, após mais de 300 Grandes Prêmios na carreira. Vai ser a segunda vez que Schumacher, de 43 anos, se aposenta da Fórmula 1. Sete vezes campeão do mundo no torneio, ele deixou a categoria em 2006 e passou três anos afastado. Depois que voltou, teve três temporadas frustrantes: conquistou apenas uma pole position, em Mônaco, e subiu uma vez ao pódio, em Valencia, este ano.
