A Vietnam veteran who was aided by San Diego police officers after his electric scooter broke down near a busy intersection said Wednesday that he appreciated their help. Gil Laroque had an injured back and knee and used his scooter to get around. On Sunday it broke down and two police officers decided to push the 300 pound machine, with Laroque sitting in it, back to his house - a mile away. "I appreciate what they did they went out of their way. How many people would stop?" Laroque said to KSWB Wednesday. The officers were Eric Cooper and Milo Shields, according to the San Diego Police Department`s Facebook. "The least I could do was push him. That`s the least I could do. He`s sacrificed and given so much to this country," Shields said. This reports aired on the KTLA 5 Morning News on Thursday, May 29, 2014.
