Major League Baseball's evidence against Alex Rodriguez is so weak he shouldn't serve even one inning of his 211-game suspension, the lawyer for the Yankees slugger said. Stocks were set to open little changed, following the Dow industrials' largest weekly drop in more than a year, as traders positioned for an expected move from the Federal Reserve to scale back its economic stimulus. The United States urged Japan to open its auto and insurance markets more to foreign companies as the two countries pursue bilateral talks linked to a broader free-trade agreement. The United States hopes to make a proposal to Japan on its trade barriers in September, U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman said. The talks are aimed at reaching a conclusion on the Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade initiative by the end of the year.
