The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) conducted a hearing on June 24 on Asiana Airlines Flight 214, in which it determined that the crew over-relied on the plane’s automated systems. The flight crashed upon landing at San Francisco Airport in July 2013, resulting in the death of two passengers. The NTSB released this animated sequence on June 24 to illustrate its findings.According to a statement from Acting NTSB Chairman Christopher A Hart, “The flight crew over-relied on automated systems that they did not fully understand. As a result, they flew the aircraft too low and too slow and collided with the seawall at the end of the runway.” Credit: NTSBgov
