Dramatic CCTV footage has emerged from China capturing the moment a bus suddenly lost two wheels on a motorway in Jiangsu Province earlier this month. The wheels can be seen bouncing across the central division of the motorway while the bus veers from side to side before the driver manages to navigate it to safety on the hard shoulder. According to local news reports twenty-eight passengers were travelling on the bus when the accident happened and everyone, including the driver, escaped without injury.
An amazing video has emerged of a hungry octopus chasing a crab around a harbour in Rose Bay, Sydney, Australia. The footage, captured by a lucky spectator earlier this month, shows the two sea creatures locked in a high-speed underwater chase. Finally the octopus extends a tentacle and snares the unfortunate crab, before disappearing into the deep water with its meal. ++PLEASE NOTE: VIDEO HAS BEEN LOOPED++
An exhilarating video has emerged of a group of young men riding 'drift trikes' down, Baldwin Street – also known as ‘the steepest street in the world’ - in Dunedin, New Zealand. The footage, shot on Saturday, shows Harley Jolly, 23, Tyson Barr, 18, and Nic Roy, 18, rushing down Baldwin St on their drift trikes at speeds they believe were over 100 km/h. The three men, who form the ‘Slide Christchurch’ group, are hoping to raise awareness around drift triking and get it recognised as a mainstream sport.
A dramatic video of a man shooting a drone out of the sky in California, US has been revealed as an impressive hoax. The video was uploaded to YouTube by Larry Breaux, a lemon farmer from Valencia earlier this month with the description: “Someone kept bothering me by flying their drone around my house and property, I decided to keep my 12-gague handy and when it came around I shot it.” The footage – a combination of aerial footage from the drone and video captured from the ground – shows the drone hovering over Larry’s home before he comes outside and shoots it. After generating interest online, Larry’s video was picked up by a number of news outlets that expressed an interest in telling his story. However, online viewers and drone enthusiasts were quick to pick up on a number of inconsistencies in the video and quickly denounced it as a hoax. Obvious anomalies include Larry’s shadow, which moves out-of-sync with the timeline of events and the shattered lens effect at the end of the footage which appeared to be added in post-production. Further to this controversy, Larry has admitted to Newsflare that he faked the video (with the help of an accomplice) to try to generate viral interest and draw attention to his fundraising campaign to create an organic lemon farm – a billboard of which can be seen at the start of the footage. -- Someone kept bothering me by flying their drone around my house and property, I decided to keep my 12-gague handy and when it came around I shot it. An amusing video has emerged from the US of a baby elephant desperate to play. In the footage, captured by a visitor to the ABQ BioPark Zoo in Albuquerque, earlier this month, the playful calf can be seen clambering over her sleeping mother’s head but fails to wake her up. The adorable calf, named ‘Jazmine’ was born to 'Rozie', a 22-year-old Asian elephant in October 2013. “Baby elephant and mom were hanging out when mom decided to take a nap, baby elephant decided to climb on her to get her attention,” the filmer later wrote online.
Stunning footage of cherry blossoms in bloom in Seoul, South Korea earlier this month. The flowering, especially common in Japanese Cherry trees, is a cause of controversy in Korea. The trees were first introduced to the country during Japanese rule and while celebrations of the blossom continue - some have since been cut down to symbolise the end of Japan's occupation and replaced with other species.
