Thousands Rally in Sydney Against Cuts to Public Broadcaster

Thousands rallied in Sydney on Saturday, November 22, to voice their opposition to the federal government’s decision to cut $50 million a year from the budget of ABC, the national public broadcaster, over the next five years. The decision was announced by communications minister Malcolm Turnbull earlier in the week.

The Community and Public Sector Union, one of the protest organisers, called for a week of action against the cuts, with protests planned for all state capitals. Credit: Facebook/Community and Public Sector Union
