Syrian Refugees Battle Severe Winter Conditions in Bekka Valley

Tens of thousands of refugees across Lebanon and Jordan have been dealing with sub-zero temperatures, heavy snow and strong winds in region. The UNHCR said on January 7 that Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley camp was hit by heavy snow, leaving refugees huddling around heaters or scraping snow from the roofs of their shelters to prevent them collapsing.

In this video World Vision’s Ralph Baydoun reports from Lebanon’s Bekka Valley, where refugees are living in informal settlements near the Syria border.

The humanitarian organization reports that: “Vulnerable communities have received blankets, winter clothing, plastic sheeting, mattresses and gas heaters. However, as the crisis approaches its fifth year, funding for such initiatives is increasingly scarce and unpredictable.” Credit: YouTube\WorldVision
