Rescue Workers Evacuate Monsoon-Hit Village

Eight provinces in Songhla, south Thailand, were declared “flood disaster zones” by local authorities after days of monsoon season rainfall submerged at least eight districts in flood water. The flood waters reached depths of up to 50 cm, submerging homes, shops and workplaces and killing at least one person. Rescue operations were set up to evacuate the areas and provide for as many as 12,000 affected families, according to local reports.
