Protests Against Acid Attacks Reach Tehran

Protests against acid attacks on women reached Tehran on October 25. A crowd gathered in the central Iranian city of Isfahan on October 22 for a protest against a series of such attacks on women there. Authorities had vowed strict punishment for the perpetrators of the attacks, reported in some local media as prompted by the belief that victims were not dressed modestly enough. Video of the protest in Isfahan can be seen here.

According to a Tehran-based human rights organisation, National Council of Resistance of Iran, there were a number of arrests made when clashes broke out in Mellat Park.
