Protesters Block Interstate 43 in Milwaukee Over Hamilton Shooting

Protesters blocked Interstate 43 in downtown Milwaukee to demand that the county district attorney charge a police officer with the fatal shooting of Dontre Hamilton. CBS 58 Milwaukee reported that more than 70 people were arrested at the demonstration. Protesters marched from Red Arrow Park to the Milwaukee Police Administration Building before ending on I-43.

Hamilton was shot 14 times during a confrontation with Officer Christopher Manney in Milwaukee’s Red Arrow Park in April. Manney claimed that he fired on the 31-year-old after Hamilton seized and struck him with a police baton. Milwaukee police fired Manney for his handling of incident in October.
