Police Rush to Secure Ottawa Parliament

A soldier was shot and killed in a gun attack at Canada’s war memorial and parliament in Ottawa on Wednesday, October 22. The gunman, who was named in the Canadian media as Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, was killed in the attack. The shooting sparked a major security alert in the Canadian capital with many public buildings placed under lockdown. Corporal Nathan Cirillo was shot at his guard post outside Ottawa’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
