National Guard Helps Buffalo Region Dig Out From Snowstorm

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has sent 375 National Guard members to Buffalo, New York, to help with the aftermath of the snow storm that pummeled the city. The guardsmen, who arrived on Thursday, November 20, are seen here moving snow with front loaders, using snow blowers and removing snow from a roof.

More than six feet of snow has fallen in some areas of Buffalo since November 17 and it could still take days for the city to dig out from the storm. The New York Thruway re-opened on November 21, but some exits remain closed, according to the Buffalo News. Twelve people’s deaths have been connected to the storm, and there have been 30 major roof collapses reported from the weight of the snow. Credit: YouTube/New York National Guard
