NASA "Flying Saucer" Videos Reveal Future of Mars Landings

NASA has declared the testing of an inflatable planetary landing system over Hawaii in June a success despite the parachute tearing itself apart. NASA released a video on August 8 showing its Low Density Supersonic Decelerator system in action. It propelled a saucer-shaped landing vehicle 120,000 ft over the Pacific Ocean. The vehicle, nicknamed the “flying saucer,” is expected to be used to allow safe landings on future missions to Mars.
