NASA has declared the testing of an inflatable planetary landing system over Hawaii in June a success despite the parachute tearing itself apart. NASA released a video on August 8 showing its Low Density Supersonic Decelerator system in action. It propelled a saucer-shaped landing vehicle 120,000 ft over the Pacific Ocean. The vehicle, nicknamed the “flying saucer,” is expected to be used to allow safe landings on future missions to Mars.Tech enthusiasts took to Twitter to give their opinions on the video: Credit: YouTube/NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
