Massive Avalanches in French Alps

Two massive avalanches were triggered at the same time on December 25, and came down either side of the Dôme du Goûter in the Mont Blanc Massif, two kilometers to the southeast of Mont Blanc itself. These avalanches came just a day after twin brothers went missing in the Contamines-Montjoie sector of Mont Blanc. The brothers, who according to local reports were accomplished mountaineers, were swept away by a separate avalanche on December 24.
