Marysville Shooter Was High School Homecoming King

A lone gunman, a student, killed one person and injured at least three others in a school shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Washington state on Friday, October 24. Gunshots were fired in the cafeteria around 10:39 am where 50 to 60 students were assembled, according to reports. Family and witnesses identified the shooter as freshman Jaylen Fryberg. Marysville police confirmed that the shooter had acted alone and was deceased.

This YouTube video shows the suspected shooter attending a high school football game a week before the incident, in his capacity as Freshman homecoming king.

Students began circulating the name Jaylen Ray Fryberg on social media in connection with the shooting on Friday. According to his social media accounts, Fryberg was Native American, played football and wrestled. He was also an active hunter. Local and national media later confirmed the name from law enforcement sources.

Fryberg was a member of a number of hunting groups on Facebook including Washington Bear Hunting and Washington Elk Hunting.
