Kurdish Forces Raise Flag on Strategic Hill in Kobane

The Syrian Kurdish military wing, the People’s Protection Units or YPG, made advances against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) militants in the contested border town of Kobane, according to Kurdish media reports on Monday, January 26. An official statement released by the YPG on January 26 said the fighters had advanced along the eastern front of the city.
