JPL Video Shows Asteroid and Its Moon

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory released this video on January 30 showing asteroid 2004 BL86 and its tiny moon. The video was created using radar data from the Deep Space Network antenna in California and the Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia as the asteroid passed earth on January 26 between 800,000 and 1 million miles away. The asteroid was discovered in 2004, but scientists didn’t see the moon until its near-earth passage. Credit: YouTube/NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
