Italian Coast Guard Boards Abandoned Migrant Ship

The Italian coast guard took control on January 2 of a migrant ship abandoned by its crew off Italy’s coast. The ship, a livestock carrier named Ezadeen, was sailing under the flag of Sierra Leone, when it lost power in rough seas 40 nautical miles off Italy’s Cape of Leuca. Over 450 migrants were reportedly rescued from the stricken vessel.
