Dramatic Escape for Pilot After Aircraft Runs Out of Fuel Northeast of Maui

A pilot dramatically escaped injury on January 25 after ejecting from his aircraft 253 miles northeast of Maui, according to the US Coast Guard. The pilot deployed the aircraft’s parachute system and, after the craft splashed down, exited the plane into a life raft. He was later picked up by the crew of the cruise ship Veendam, according to Hawaii News Now.
