Demonstrations in Cairo Over Death of Female Activist

Dozens of people took to the streets of Cairo, on Thursday, January 29, in demonstration over the death of Shaimaa al-Sabbagh, the Egyptian activist who died after being shot by police on Saturday, January 24, while marching to Tahrir Square to commemorate those killed during the uprising of 2011.

According to reports, al-Sabbagh was hit at close range when police fired shotgun pellets into the crowd. She died a short time later.
