Australian Senator Smuggles Fake Bomb Into Parliament Building

Australian Parliament was given a security wake-up call on May 26 when a senator smuggled a fake pipe bomb and sticks of dynamite into the building. Bill Heffernan, of the ruling Liberal party, was speaking to police at a hearing when he produced the device. He also outlined how the ingredients of a homemade bomb could be brought, separately, through security. Federal police chief Tony Negus was forced to admit, “that is a risk, yes”.
