'1600 Pandas World Tour' Promotes Conservation in Malaysia

A public exhibition of 1600 papier-mache pandas began in central Kuala Lumpur on December 21. The “1600 Pandas World Tour” previously hit Taiwan and Hong Kong. According to the Facebook page for the Malaysian leg of the tour, the number of pandas reflects the number of real pandas that were left in the wild at the time of the tour’s inception.

The tour will hit 15 stops in Malaysia, according to The Malay Mail Online. The pandas were designed by French sculptor Paulo Grangeon who established the tour in conjunction with the World Wildlife Federation (WWF). Credit: Facebook/ElanaKhong
