Manny Pacquiao could be disciplined for failing to disclose shoulder injury

Manny Pacquiao could face disciplinary action for failing to disclose a pre-bout shoulder injury before his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr on Sunday.Following the fight in which Pacquiao lost, Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, said the 36-year-old boxer had been impaired by an injury to his right shoulder. Pacquiao has a torn rotator cuff that will require surgery. At issue is whether the injury, which Pacquiao sustained during training in April, was properly disclosed to the Nevada State Boxing Commission. On a pre-fight checklist, Pacquiao’s camp answered “No” as to whether the boxer had any injuries to his “shoulders, elbows or hands.”Bob Arum says he asked the Nevada State Boxing Commission for Pacquiao to be injected with painkillers one week before the fight.Furthermore, the US Anti-Doping Agency had approved the injections, but this information apparently was not passed to the boxing commission. Three hours before the fight, another of Pacquiao’s promoters asked for the injection, but the boxing commission denied the request. The Commission said it didn’t know about the shoulder injury until fight day when the injection was requested.
