US Military Resumes Airstrikes Against Islamic State in Tikrit

The US military, along with coalition forces, resumed operations against Islamic State targets near Tikrit, Iraq, on Thursday, March 26, marking the second day of airstrikes targeting militants in the city. The US Department of Defense said it launched a total of 17 airstrikes near the city.

The series of strikes were conducted as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, according to US Central Command. The task force conducts airstrikes and provides airborne intelligence support to Iraqi security forces.
