Strip Mall in Petal Severely Damaged After Weekend Tornado

Residents of the Pine Belt region of Mississippi began rebuilding their homes on January 23, two days after a tornado swept through the area, killing four people.

This footage shows some of the damage along a strip mall in Petal, which saw “entire neighborhoods” damaged by the tornado, Mayor Hal Marx told The Clarion-Ledger.

The tornado wrecked 480 homes in four counties and caused nearly 60 injuries, The Clarion-Ledger reported, citing the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. An estimated 7,600 locals were left without power throughout the state. Credit: Instagram/soapartist via Storyful
