Russian Nationalists Train Volunteers in St Petersburg to Fight in Eastern Ukraine

Russian nationalists in St Petersburg, devoted to the war in Ukraine, have sent dozens of fighters to aid pro-Russian separatists, according to a Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty report.

The report shows the headquarters of the nationalist group Other Russia packed with the flags of Ukrainian separatists and stacks of aid parcels destined for rebel battalions. Andrei Dmitriev, organizer of Other Russia, said that at least 150 activists have been sent from St Petersburg since July.

This footage captures training exercises for Russians hoping to join the fight in eastern Ukraine. Dmitry Gariyev, leader of The Imperial Legion nationalist group, said, “It became clear that the majority of volunteers who passed through had not received any training.” Gariyev said that the group teaches first aid, map reading, tactics, and how to handle weapons.
