Puppies Rescued From Italian Hotel After Avalanche

Three white Abruzzo sheepdog puppies were found alive on Monday, January 23, inside inside an Italian hotel that had been largely destroyed by an avalanche.

The Italian fire service said on Monday that rescuers had worked through the night at the Hotel Rigopiano in Italy’s Pescara province, which was hit by a devastating avalanche on January 18.

Nine people had been rescued from the hotel by Monday and seven bodies recovered. The discovery of the eight-week-old puppies raised hopes among rescuers that some of the 22 people still missing could be found alive, the Guardian reported. Credit: Vigili del Fuoco via Storyful
