Plan International: Ebola Creating 'Thousands of Orphans' in West Africa

In a new video report posted to YouTube on October 23, Plan International outlines the situation on the ground in Liberia as the country battles the spread of the Ebola virus. According to Plan International, Ebola has created “thousands of orphans” in West Africa. The video features interviews with young Liberians who lost their family members, and outlines how it is offering support to young people in the region.

“Our father was the first,” says one young man. “At six minutes to nine, our father died. My uncle died at five minutes after nine. My older brother died at 10 minutes after. His wife died 20 minutes after nine. That was on the 29th. On the 30th, my aunty Bindu, my sister and one other nurse from the hospital – they also passed away.
