Residents of the Pine Belt region of Mississippi began rebuilding their homes on January 23, two days after a tornado swept through the area, killing four people.

This footage shows shopkeepers and other local residents of Petal and Hattiesburg, two cities that were hit by the tornado, clearing wreckage and thanking the Mississippi National Guard for helping them.

The tornado wrecked 480 homes in four counties and caused nearly 60 injuries, The Clarion-Ledger reported, citing the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. An estimated 7,600 locals were left without power throughout the state. Credit: Mississippi National Guard via Storyful
