Lava Lake Overflows From Kilauea Volcano

A lava lake on Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano overflowed on Monday, May 4, after part of the Halemaumau Crater’s wall collapsed the day prior. The collapse triggered “a small explosion,” according to US Geological Survey. The agency also recorded four earthquakes of magnitude 2.9 or 3.6 near Kilauea summit’s East Rift Zone on Monday.
