Funnel Clouds Spotted in Roswell, New Mexico

A tornado touched down near Roswell, New Mexico, on May 5, as cold-air funnel clouds formed in the area.

The National Weather Service reported that funnel clouds were expected in the afternoon. The difference between a cold-air funnel cloud and a tornado is that the former are tilted and do not touch the ground, though they look threatening, according to the NWS. Credit: Instagram/benchavez
