Brooklyn Protesters Demand Justice for Akai Gurley

Around 200 people marched in Brooklyn, New York, on Saturday, December 27 to protest over the death of Akai Gurley. Gurley, 28, was unarmed when he was shot and killed by a NYPD officer in the stairwell of a Brooklyn housing project on November 20. Protesters marched from the Louis Heaton Pink Houses to the 75th Precinct building in east Brooklyn.

The protest was held on the same day as the funeral of slain NYPD Officer Rafael Ramos despite calls from Mayor Bill de Blasio to postpone demonstrations following the death of Ramos and Officer Wenjian Liu.
