Musical Mothers Day
The country singer begins her sentimental 2009 video "Mama’s Song" with her own mom, Carole. "You just don’t think, when your child is small, that in just a few years it’s going to be completely different," Underwood's mom says, leafing through a family photo album. "And you look back and say, 'Where did that time go?' It goes by fast." The video, which tops the Yahoo Screen Mother's Day playlist, also depicts the moments just after the performer's wedding to hockey player Mike Fisher. "Mama, you taught me to do the right things / So now you have to let your baby fly," Underwood sings. "And I know you’ve watched me grow up and only want what’s best for me / And I think I’ve found the answer to your prayers / And he is good, so good / He treats your little girl like a real man should."
In "True Love," the acrobatic performer sings about her relationship with husband Carey Hart. P!nk, Hart, and their daughter, Willow, appear in the video playing with puppets, relaxing in their living room, and riding bikes. "Sometimes I hate every single stupid word you say," P!nk confesses about her beloved. "Sometimes I wanna slap you in your whole face / There's no one quite like you / You push all my buttons down / I know life would suck without you."
2Pac's 1995 single "Dear Mama" was dedicated to his mom, Afeni Shakur. "When I was pregnant and in jail, I thought I was going to have the baby and the baby would never be with me," she says in the video. "But I was acquitted a month and three days before Tupac was born. I was real happy. Because I had a son." The track was the most popular song from his best-selling album, "Me Against the World." "I finally understand/ For a woman it ain't easy tryin' to raise a man," raps the artist, who died in 1996. "You always was committed / A poor single mother on welfare, tell me how ya did it / There's no way I can pay you back / But the plan is to show you that I understand / You are appreciated."
Drake hasn't forgotten his roots. In his video, the Canadian-born hip-hop artist first appears dressed in white with a matching Bentley. But later, his mom makes a cameo appearance, and Drizzy is seen in the past, when he worked at a drugstore and still lived at home. "I done kept it real from the jump / Living at my mama's house, we'd argue every mornin'," he raps. "I just think it's funny how it goes / Now I'm on the road, half a million for a show."
In this video Whitney pays tribute to all of the strong women who inspired her, including her awesome mom.
