More than six weeks after Flight 370 disappeared, Malaysia's prime minister says his government is still not prepared to declare it -- and the 239 people on board -- lost. "At some point in time I would be, but right now I think I need to take into account the feelings of the next of kin -- and some of them have said publicly that they aren't willing to accept it until they find hard evidence," Najib Razak told CNN's Richard Quest in an exclusive TV interview. Still, he said, it is "hard to imagine otherwise."
The official announcement is out, the full schedule of events have been listed, and beginning last night Drake's second Houston Appreciation Weekend took flight in Texas. However, from a local perspective there are mixed emotions about HAW. Businesses and clubs see an influx of out-of-towners ready and willing to spend money to be seen and in the moment. For the music scene, in particular rap artists seeking to be a part of the festivities, the opportunities to perform are exclusive as Drake brings his own bill down South. DJ AudiTory said, "the day it becomes a weekend where Houstonians benefit from being involved in it will make the event bigger than what it is now."
World number one and defending champion Rory McIlroy missed the cut at the BMW PGA Championship after finishing five over for his two rounds at Wentworth. The 26-year-old, who has won two of his last three events in America, had a double bogey six at the 11th as he added a round of 78 to his opening 71. Lee Westwood and Ernie Els face a wait to see if one over will make the cut. Italian Francesco Molinari retained a two-shot lead after birdies at the last two holes in a 69 took him to 10 under.
Happy, sort of, birthday Dorothy Wang? In a new clip from Sunday's season three premiere of #RichKids of Beverly Hills, Dorothy celebrates her golden birthday and things don't go as she planned. Here's the back story: Morgan, Dorothy, Roxy and EJ Johnson went to lunch a few days before this party and EJ announced that he had a business opportunity in the Bahamas and invited the girls to come along. When they discussed who else he would invite, he was not sure if wanted to invite Jonny due to his outbursts in the past and Dorothy was quick to agree. However, to cover herself, she texted Jonny after lunch and told him what EJ said. So now everyone is totally annoyed with her for stirring up drama.
Google's Research and Development team has looked into making internet-connected toys that control smart home appliances. The firm has published a patent that describes devices that would turn their heads towards users and listen to what they were saying, before sending commands to remote computer servers. The three-year old patent was spotted recently by the technology law firm SmartUp. It described the proposal as "one of Google's creepiest patents yet". Privacy campaigners have also raised concerns. A spokeswoman for Google was unable to say whether this was a product the firm might develop and sell.
U.S. marshals and police tracked down and arrested a dangerous ex-convict and five others, bringing a sudden and safe ending to a multistate manhunt in the slayings of a wealthy Washington family and their housekeeper, authorities said Friday. The fugitive task force tracked Daron Dylon Wint to New York and back before they caught up with him late Thursday night in the parking lot of a Howard Johnson Express Inn in College Park, Maryland. Robert Fernandez, commander of the U.S. Marshal Service's Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, told The Associated Press "We had overwhelming numbers and force, They completely submitted immediately."
