It came "from a family recipe perfected over decades."

For cheese lovers on a budget, it's hard to beat Trader Joe's cheese selection. Whether you just need some good Cheddar to get you through the week or you're creating an entire cheese board, the quality of many of the blocks and wedges at TJ's often exceeds the price.

The store is particularly known for its Unexpected Cheddar, a "smooth, creamy cheddar that shares some similarities with aged Parmesan." The similarity with Parm comes in the form of Parmesan-like bits throughout the cheese that give it a bit of a crunch. It's hard to walk out of the store without a block of the cheese that's so beloved that it's made it into Trader Joe's Hall of Fame, but there are other choices. Shoppers also love the Cheddar Cheese with Caramelized Onions. The perfect-for-grilled-cheese version took the top cheese spot in this year's Trader Joe's Customer Choice Awards.

There's now a new Cheddar that has customers elbowing to get into the back-of-store cheese section to snatch up one or two blocks, and it's the current Spotlight Cheese.

Ivy’s Reserve Somerset Red at Trader Joe’s

According to Trader Joe's, Ivy's Red is a special edition among Wyke Farm's Cheddar varieties. Wyke Farm in Somerset, England, has been in the same family for 200 years and is known for its Cheddar cheeses. Ivy's Reserve Somerset Red is "smooth, creamy and delicious and made from a family recipe perfected over decades."

It's also the world's first carbon-neutral Cheddar from a farm that uses 100 percent green energy. The organic waste created on the farm is turned into natural energy. Along with solar power, the farm generates enough energy to run its operations.

When Trader Joe's highlighted the cheese on its Instagram page, responses were overwhelmingly positive. One TJ's employee called it "the best" and said their store sold so much of it when highlighted in the demo department.

Shoppers raved, "This is one of the best spotlight cheeses we've had! I've already bought two!" and, "It's absolutely delicious."

According to the brand's response on Instagram account Trader Joe's New (not associated with the store itself), this cheese is the real deal, produced in England and sold at Wyke Farms Farmshop in England.

A commenter from the UK said they lived in Somerset and had "never heard of this cheese," guessing it "must be made for the American Market." Ivy's Reserve responded that it is sold locally.

According to the photo on Trader Joe's New, a 7-ounce block costs $5.49. This unique cheese is only available for a limited time, so if you see it in the store, grab it. My local Trader Joe's was sold out and waiting for a restock.
