India and Thailand have aimed to put into place the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by the end of 2013 as well as ensure completion of the trilateral highway project by 2016. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Thailand's Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra stated this at a joint press conference in Bangkok. Addressing the joint press conference, Thailand's Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said that trade between both nations stood at US 8.6 million in 2012 and there is ample scope for further alleviation. On his part, the Indian Prime Minister said that efforts would be done to complete the ambitious trilateral highway with Thailand and Myanmar by 2016.
