On Jan. 1, the key provisions of the Affordable Care Act took effect. Americans gained access to new health plans subsidized by federal dollars. Insurers no longer can turn away people with existing conditions. Millions are now eligible for new Medicaid benefits. But, The Wall Street Journal reports, the federal law also upended existing health-insurance arrangements for millions of people. Companies worry about the expense of providing new policies, some hospitals aren't seeing the influx of new patients they expected to balance new costs and entrepreneurs say they may hire more part-time workers to avoid offering more coverage.
Anna Kendrick knows a thing or two about success by now. But the Oscar-nominated actress isn't taking anything for granted—especially because she went out and worked her butt off for that success. The Pitch Perfect 2 star and Glamour 's June Success Issue cover girl tells the magazine, "As an actress you're perpetually about to be unemployed. The last major hurricane — defined as a Category 3 or greater — to strike the U.S. was Hurricane Wilma, which made landfall in Florida in October 2005.
Hiillary Clinton said she would support allowing more immigrants to get legal protection and work permits. It might be the early days of the Democratic primary, but Hillary Clinton on Tuesday appeared to move straight to the general election, challenging the Republicans to attack her on immigration by moving beyond President Barack Obama on the issue.
