Greek Unions To Hold General Strike On April 9

Greece's largest public sector union says it will join a nationwide general strike April 9 to protest austerity measures. The ADEDY union said Thursday it was joining the strike call issued by the GSEE union a few days ago. ADEDY said it was also organizing a demonstration outside Parliament on the day lawmakers vote on a new bill legislating the latest measures agreed to between Greece and its international lenders. The bill has not yet been submitted to Parliament, but is expected to be voted on Sunday night. Athens agreed on the measures last week, But some of them have raised serious objections from lawmakers inside the two-party governing coalition.
According to reports, two people were shot at an on-campus student housing complex at Houston’s Texas Southern University on Friday. School officials later confirmed to The Associated Press that the victim who died in the shooting was a student at the school, but gave no further information about his or her identity. A Houston Police Department spokesperson told said that the other victim was hospitalized, but in stable condition. No other information about the victim’s identity was provided. The shooting is the second at a university reported Friday, with at least one person killed at a shooting at Northern Arizona University.
Eight inmates on death row in Arkansas have been granted a new but short-term lease on life by a judge. An Arkansas judge has granted a state-wide stay of executions at their legal request. Judge Wendell Griffen of the Pulaski County Circuit court accepted the argument of lawyers for the inmates who are challenging a recent secrecy law. The law protects the identity of vendors which provide the state with drugs for lethal injection. The state has not committed a execution since 2005, but they had scheduled two for Oct. 21. The Arkansas General Assembly enacted the statue challenged in court earlier this year.

Hayek recalled fearing the move from Mexico to Hollywood, only to be surprised by the strong women she found herself surrounded by in the industry. “They cannot ignore us anymore. The campaign supports non-governmental agencies that help empower women and girls around the world through initiatives focused on education, health and justice.

Dubbed, Facebook Reactions, the latest instant reply feature for the social media service now lets users choose from a few emotive icons to express how they feel towards a post. Though users can't "dislike" what they see, they can now show that it makes them angry. The six-refined reactions are Facebook's response to years of user demand for parity in the "Like" feature. However, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has never been comfortable with the idea of disliking posts, as he felt it was not so social. Instead the company has matured it's expressive replies with emotive faces and icons such as a familiar thumbs-up or a heart.

Kayte captioned the snapshot of Kelsey beaming at the camera,"Thank you for the tee @abort73!" A few days earlier, Kayte also posed in a similar T-shirt for Instagram. She captioned the photo with the hashtags, "#abort73 #standwithbabies."
