Mark Zuckerberg, like Facebook, is maturing. The soon-to-be 30-year-old CEO of the decade-old social networking company grew reflective as he stood before hundreds of app developers to announce a host of mobile features designed to put "people first." Facebook's new mantra may not be as sexy. Zuckerberg pointed to a new sign that read "Move fast with stable infra," as in infrastructure, and the audience laughed. Stability, it turns out, is the new maxim.
A commentary by Chuck Todd of NBC News says Donald Trump might help and hurt Jeb Bush. The commentary also written by Mark Murray and Carrie Dann says for Jeb Bush, the Republican presidential race becoming all about Donald Trump has its positives. One, it freezes the rest of the field, sucking up oxygen from other candidates. Two, it provides Bush with a foil to campaign against. Jeb can say, "I'm Mr. Responsible Republican, and we can't allow the irresponsible ones take over our party." But the commentary also says rise of Trump has one big drawback for Jeb Bush- It further exposes the party's wounds on immigration. For expample, look at how Trump fired back at Bush's criticism. Trump says Bush doesn't understand anything about the border or border security. In fact, Jeb believes illegal immigrants who break our laws when they cross our border come out 'out of love.'"
Carnival Corp. is planning “social impact” cruises to Cuba, as soon as the island nation gives the green light. The trips technically won’t constitute tourism, but will operate under existing U.S. Treasury guidelines that permit cultural and humanitarian exchanges with Cuba. U.S. travelers can sign up for a place on one of the trips with a $600 deposit. Ultimately, the trip will cost $2,990 per person with taxes and other fees not included. Politico says beginning in May 2016, Carnival plans to run biweekly, seven-night “people-to-people” vacations to Cuba on the company’s 710-passenger Adonia ship. Aaccording to a statement, the cruises will offer “cultural, artistic, faith-based and humanitarian exchanges between American and Cuban citizens.” The company is still awaiting final approval from the Cuban government.
Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio on Tuesday called for an overhaul of the U.S. higher education system, saying universities were operating as a "cartel" and were not meeting the needs of students or the economy. Rubio said, "We need to change how we provide degrees, how those degrees are accessed, how much that access costs, how those costs are paid and even how those payments are determined." The U.S.
Bill Cosby's admission that he obtained quaaludes to give young women he was pursuing for sex could boost defamation claims lodged by his accusers. That's according to the women's lawyers. The development came after The Associated Press reported on newly released court documents. In sworn testimony unsealed Monday, Cosby admitted that he gave the now-banned sedative to at least one of his accusers and to unnamed others. His lawyer interfered before he could answer deposition questions in 2005 about how many women were given drugs and whether they knew about it. The 77-year-old Cosby has been accused by more than two dozen women of sexual misconduct dating back more than four decades. He has never been charged with a crime, and the statute of limitations on most of the accusations has expired.
