European Union leaders were poised Thursday to impose sanctions on Russia to protest its military incursion into Ukraine's Crimean peninsula, according to European officials. The Brussels talks came as the U.S. government piled its own pressure on Russia, and lawmakers in Crimea declared their intention to split from Ukraine and join Russia instead. A senior diplomat said the bloc's leaders were considering suspending talks with Russia on a wide-ranging economic agreement and on granting Russian citizens visa-free travel within the 28-nation bloc, a goal that Moscow has been pursuing for years. But European leaders were unlikely to take more drastic steps like freezing assets and imposing travel bans on Russian officials.
The opening minutes of MTV's Scream — based on the 1996 movie that was scary at the time — throw the viewer into the belly of the digital beast: a teenager's social (media) life. It all starts with a salacious YouTube video that quickly spreads like an STD during prom season. The video, which features a young girl named Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus, who was fantastic on CW's Arrow) making out with another girl, is meant to be cyber bullying. The person who filmed and shared the footage aimed to do some damage. And it sort of works. The video racks up views and the kind of horrible comments one would expect from the self-absorbed, mean-spirited teens that tend to be portrayed on younger viewer-aimed shows these days. But justice is soon served — and then some.
Facebook Messenger has finally rolled out its payments feature across the entire U.S. so that any stateside user can pay friends right inside the app, if they like. To recap, users who add their debit card information in Messenger's settings section can send payments by starting a conversation with one or more friends, picking the "$" icon that appears in the row above the software keyboard, and tapping "Pay." The Messenger team has taken its time with payments since the long-awaited feature was announced in March, gradually rolling it out across the country to a handful of cities first before going nationwide — a cautious approach likely done to avoid potential security issues.
Amid recent casting news for the newest film adaptation of Spider-Man, Stan Lee has come forward to reaffirm that he'd like his Marvel characters to stay exactly as they are. Though that's not to say that he's necessarily opposed to diverse representation — just not in his own creations. He explained, "I have no problem with having a black one, a Latino one, a Chinese one, anything — the whole world is our playground. "I'm just not too happy changing what has already been established."

U.S. officials say the United States and Cuba have reached an agreement to reopen embassies and restore diplomatic ties severed more than five decades ago, and the historic deal will be unveiled on Wednesday. The announcement will come nearly six-and-a-half months after President Obama and Cuban President Raul Castro sealed a diplomatic breakthrough.
